Well yeah, haha, you’re right. :P The reality of that resolution IS “send out 500 query letters” (or something like that). The point of phrasing it the other way (“get an agent”) is to keep me focused on the goal. ‘Cause the goal isn’t to send out X number of query letters, even though that’s the practical step.

I admit that it's a bit weird to me that you made a resolution that is out of your control to a large extent. If your first resolution had been something like, "Send out 500 query letters to agents this year (or until I get an agent)," that would make more sense to me. 1) Completely finish a book
2) Get an agent
3) Make time to cook more. (because my husband is really getting tired of Ramen every night!)
