Michigan

Thanks for all your suggestions and feedback, re: the social media dilemma. I took some initials steps (i.e., started to privatize my photos, put ALL 700+ Facebook friends in lists, etc.) and I feel better knowing I have options.

This post might seem a bit ironic, given all that, but I don’t want to eliminate the personal aspect of my blog (or other social media). I just want to be careful with it. So with that in mind, here are a few pictures from my weekend. I went to visit my uncle, aunt, cousin, and cousin’s baby this weekend. Isn’t he a cute little bugger?

Left side: Playing. Right side: Eating mashed chicken for the first time.

I also got my first “tour” of the University of Michigan, and it was lovely. But then, I’m a sucker for fall leaves, climbing ivy, and 1800s architecture.

Overall I was really impressed with the quiet beauty of Ann Arbor. I also loved getting to know my family a bit better, and I enjoyed catching up with my old buddy Albert. Emphasis on old, hehehe.

Aw, your cousin’s baby is adorable. And UoM looks gorgeous — I definitely do have a soft spot for 1800s architecture as well.

Glad you enjoyed Ann Arbor. Isn’t my hometown beautiful? Planning to study there or just visiting?

I am a sucker for fall leaves, ivy and architecture too! And Ann Arbor is a place I’d LOVE to live. The Whole Foods alone is the most amazing place on earth.
Cute, cute baby. I make the same face when I eat mashed chicken. :)

Obviously, I had to comment on the U of M post. So glad you had fun :)

One of the things I always liked about the University of Pennsylvania campus was all the great old buildings. Let me see if I can think of another thing I liked about Penn…. um…. well….

Ooh, I love Ann Arbor! I have a picture of myself in about the same spot from about 3 years ago! And your cousins are adorable. Thanks for sharing these pieces of yourself.

So is it funny, ironic, hmm, the right word escapes me; but when you said you went to visit your uncle, aunt, cousin and cousin’s baby, I did a double take and furrowed my brow when I saw the pictures. It took me a minute. I don’t think of you that way. <= The funny, ironic, something, fill in the blank here, part. :)

    Emy, Shari, Liz-
    Thanks!

LOL yes it is — I forgot you were from there! No plans to study there, but after visiting, I’d be open to it (IF I decided to go for an MFA).

    Sarah-
LOL do you eat mashed chicken often? :P

    Zara-
I kept thinking of you while I was there!!

LOL that’s kind of how my parents talk about Penn too… (Well, okay, they liked it more than you did. But they didn’t want me to go there, a lot from a safety standpoint.)

    Trisha-
LOL don’t think of me as part-Asian? Either way, it IS {insert right word here}, because I’d probably have done the same thing if our roles were reversed. That’s the funny thing about being half-sisters. :)

Oh that mashed chicken face….lol. Love the fall too. “I also loved getting to know my family a bit better,” – Always a good thing.

I had a blogger from Michigan who used to post travel posts. She totally made me want to visit a state I knew little about.

Your post added to the interest.

    And, what a cute baby!

I bet there are plenty of people in Michigan who would happily swap with you in Hawaii for a week. ;)
