Hey, remember that time I thought a wolf was attacking me and Riley, but it turned out just to be a stray Husky, and then I helped her reunite with her owner?

Yeah, that’s sort of happening again.

Only this time it’s an American bulldog mix (vet’s guess) and I still have no idea who the owner is. I’ve posted on Craigslist, put up flyers, checked for a microchip, and reported him to the SPCA. No results so far, but please keep your fingers crossed, because Bubba (as I’ve dubbed him) is a really sweet guy and totally deserves a happy ending.

You’re so sweet to try to help him and his owner find their way back to each other. Fingers crossed!

Thanks, guys. Things aren’t looking too optimistic right now… (And I cannot even tell you how much I’ve agonized and cried over what to do.) But I keep reminding myself that it hasn’t even been 24 hours since I found him. Hopefully his family is looking for him and our paths will cross soon.

    Mandy-
Unfortunately, no. We really can’t accommodate a dog of that size in our space. Although I’m tempted to buy a house just so we can save this dog…

Such a cutie. I’ll take him! (or wish I could).

Heh, I wish you could too.

Nice. I’ve lost track of how many loose/lost dogs I’ve stopped to shoo out of the street. Or locked up in my garage or tied up out front while I looked for their owner. I used to have the number of one dog’s owner on my frig. I would just call everytime I saw him, Wylie, run past the house. *sigh*
    You are good to help.

I have a feeling I’m going to lose count too. We must be related. :)

I am totally that dog lady, too. I see one and I think what their owners must be going through, missing their pup, and then I think that if I was ever in that position, I’d want someone to do the same for me and my doggies. :)

Is the dog neutered? That’s a sign he has (or had at one point) a responsible owner. He does look like a sweetie pie. The thought has already crossed my mind that I’d like to rescue him too. I’m a sucker just like you! But as you tweeted yesterday (I think), I can’t save all the dogs. I hope you either find his owner or find him a good home…

    Natalia-
EXACTLY. I do what I hope someone would do for Riley.

    Sonje-
Not neutered, but he had a collar, knew sit and shake, and was totally comfortable with my car (getting in/out and riding). He definitely belonged to someone.

Good luck. I’m glad he found you. Hopefully his owners will turn up soon, too.

They did! I found them! Happy ending!

    YAY! Next, kittens/cats. ;-)

So what’s the story of the happy ending?

  15. Kristan Avatar

Heh, not sure cats will ever come into the picture. I’m allergic. Not enough to avoid cats (I like them!) but too allergic to keep them myself.

The story is pretty simple: I was driving around putting up posters when I decided to ask people in the next neighborhood over if they recognized the dog. First person did not. Second person did not. Third person goes, “That’s my dog!” He proved it by providing some specific details, and then the mailman independently confirmed it. So the dog and his owners were reunited, and I was so happy I cried. :)

Wonderful story, so glad it had a happy ending! You are such a good person for seeing this dog back to his owner :)
