Sometimes it feels like the whole world is sleeping peacefully while I stay up, struggling to write, forcing myself to sit up, hold the pen in my hand, and push it across the pages…
Word Count – Aug 19, 2009:
But then again, that’s what happens when you don’t write fast enough. 10k is great, but more than half the month is already gone. 3k a day for the rest of August? We’ll see.
Potential additional obstacle: carving out 600 words (and who knows how many hours) for this prompt-based contest from NPR. Looks like a pretty cool opportunity for all you other writers, though!

haha. don’t give up! every year I tell myself I’m going to pace myself at the 1.7k a day or whatever, and pretty much every year I end up with ~25k written by the time I have 1 week left, and I still make it (school nights writing till 5am and then sleeping a couple hours before class… etc). you’d underestimate how crazily you can write when you assume that you MUST win.
Stay up till 5 AM? Oh, Aurora, you’re so funny. :P
(But you’re right: don’t give up! I haven’t. But I’m daunted.)
You can do it!! ;)

Thanks! And don’t think she doesn’t know it. :P
And as for Nov, I firmly believe that setting high goals is a good thing, as long as you can live with falling a little short. Because you may not reach the moon, but you’ll still be soaring among the stars.
